President's Welcome Message
Welcome to the King Harbor Marlin Club website. We are a group of fishing folks who have monthly meetings, Tournaments for inshore and offshore species throughout the year, and even two Tournament trips a year to Mexico. Our members include those who fish competitively in all the major Tournaments up and down the California Coast including Baja, Costa Rica, Panama and Hawaii. We also have youth anglers and those adults who are just getting the “bug” to try fishing on the Ocean.
We hold monthly meetings in Redondo Beach and host our Marlin Tournament in Avalon on Catalina Island each year in September. Our monthly meetings usually go from 7PM to 9PM or so and we have “free” food and a top notch speaker covering the fish that is currently in our local waters. Interestingly, some of our members are noted anglers themselves, and share some of their own methods and techniques that works for their teams during Tournaments, at the meetings as well.
As you look through the website, you will note that we fish by IGFA and Southwest Anglers rules and keep line class records on many game fish. Each year, at our annual Awards Banquet in January, we hand out “armloads” of trophies to anglers from the very young to the hard core veterans who “fish it up” in the summer. You are invited to join our King Harbor Marlin Club and that information is found in this website. Our members live in Communities all over Southern California and have their boats in many different Harbors.
Our premier event is the annual Marlin Tournament on the first Friday and Saturday after Labor Day in September that is headquartered in Avalon on Catalina Island , and is a wonderful time of year to be there. We generally have great participation and fun in one of the warmer times of the year on the Ocean. Line size is a key “tie breaker” and it leads to some interesting results.
If you have questions about our Club, becoming a member or if I can help you in any way, please call me on my cell. Welcome to our website and we look forward to seeing you at the meetings.
