Inshore Multi-Species Tournament

Join us June 26 and 27 for the KHMC's First Annual Inshore Multi Species Grand Slam.  White Sea Bass, Yellowtail and Calico Bass are all on the targeted species list, so everyone's got a shot - and even if you don't win a prize, you get some mighty fine grillin'!

Entry form and fees are due June 9th - bring them to the meeting that night and learn a little about WSB while you're at it.

 Next Meeting - Wednesday, June 9, 2010

We are proud to be hosting Captain Tino Valentine on Wednesday, June 9th at 7 PM at the Redondo Beach Yacht Club.  Capt. Tino has run several boats over the years (RAILTIME, PHANTOM) and now as owner/operator of OPTIONS he specialized in White Sea Bass at Catalina and San Clemente.  Tino and his crew will be discussing techniques, tackle, and other specifics that they have been using the last few years to put their clients on huge amounts of the 30-50 lb "biscuits".

Options Sportfishing has generously donated an Overnight Open Party Spot (valued at $300), so come to the meeting to learn a lot and have a chance to win!

Presidents Message

After far too long without, I’d like to welcome you back to the new and improved KHMC Newsletter. Many thanks to Ed Tschernoscha of BAJA FISH GEAR for taking on the task of the club Newsletter. With regular support and feedback from our membership, it is our goal to continue to improve the content and quality of the Newsletter and website.

It seems that the warmth of Spring is drawing some action on the water; please see our member’s fish reports included in this edition for more detailed information.

Our annual Awards Banquet was well attended once again, and it was great to meet some of our new members.

The Cabo Shootout was also a whopping success. Thanks to all of the participants and to our Tournament Director Don Butts for making the trip south. Our Events Calendar is included in this Newsletter and also displayed on the website. Please be sure to reserve your crew early and participate in our club tournaments and seminars.

One of our goals this past winter was to fill the many vacancies on the club’s Board of Directors. I am pleased to announce that with the support of our membership, we were able to fill all but one vacancy. With that, on behalf of the KHMC, I want to thank each of our past Board Members for the years of time and service you have provided to our club. Our recent past Board Members are as follows:

Gary Massamino: Gary served for many years as our Treasurer and got the club back on track, and is our immediate past Vice President.

Roberta Stotesbury: Roberta served as our club Secretary for many many years and has always provided tremendous support for club activities.

Paul Friedman: As our Social Chair, Paul made sure the facilities were in place to conduct our meetings, seminars and Tournament/Award dinners.

Marylin Stephens: Among many other posts throughout the years, Marylin was most recently our Membership Chair and continues to maintain her role with the Yearbook.

Max Pierce: Max was in charge of publishing the Newsletter for several years, always taking great pride in providing quality content.

Thanks to each of you for your support and dedication through the years!

Moving forward, I want to recognize the new volunteer Board Members, and also thank them for their commitment to the club.

Secretary: Kathleen Galli
